Send a bar size and a voltage
Four fields decide a size code. "100 x 10 mm, 24 kV, straight run, 60 m" is answerable. "100 mm busbar" is not.

A reply carries a size code, the chart row behind it and the datasheet. It carries no price, delivery date or stock position. Those are settled against the code afterwards, by the manufacturer.
Put these in the message
In the order the chart is read. What is left out is what a reply has to ask for.
- Bar section in millimetres — width and breadth for a rectangular bar, diameter for a round one. The chart bands on width plus breadth, so 100 x 10 is readable and 100 mm alone is not.
- System voltage in kV — it picks the wall grade before it picks the code: GSC to 3.3 kV, GMB to 24 kV, GHB to 36 kV. GEHB at 66 kV is a separate series, not the top of that ladder.
- Geometry — straight run, bolted joint, tee or square-cut end. Four different parts, and one bar commonly needs three of them. A connection no standard moulding matches is a custom-mould question and has to be raised as one.
- Quantity, in the unit the part ships in — metres of run for sleeve, pieces for shrouds and caps, 1200 x 430 mm sheets for GHHS bus sheet, 15 m rolls for barrier board. Name the destination country with it: the manufacturer sells through agents, distributors, utilities and OEMs into more than 100 countries, and the country decides which channel answers.
What each field moves
- Width plus breadth, never the larger figure alone
- A 100 x 10 mm bar is 110 mm. The bands overlap, so 110 lands in two GSC codes — 100/50 covering 104–125 mm and 120/60 covering 110–150 mm — in two GMB codes, 100/38 at 83–126 mm and 120/45 at 104–150 mm, and in exactly one GHB code, 120/45 at 94–125 mm. The section narrows the answer to five codes. "100 mm" narrows it to none.
- The kV, ahead of everything else
- Grade first, code second. That same 110 mm bar takes a 1.40 mm wall in GSC, 3.00 mm in GMB and 3.70 mm in GHB, each to ±10%. One bar, three sleeves, and only the voltage separates them.
- Run, joint, tee or end
- Sleeve covers the run. A shroud covers a joint that has to open again for a torque check, a sheet covers a tee no moulding matches, and a cap covers the cut end. Connection geometries and the five insulation methods settle that upstream, and the quantity has to say which of the four it counts.
- Run length, because a reel is not one length
- Reel length falls as the code rises: 100 m on GSC 16/8 and GSC 20/10, 50 m on GSC 30/15 and GSC 40/20, 25 or 20 m across most of the range, 15 m on GHB 150/60 and GHB 180/70, and 1.5 m on GMB 205/85, GMB 250/100, GHB 205/85 and GHB 250/120. With the run length the reel count is arithmetic. Without it, a 40 m run and a 1.5 m reel is a discovery made at delivery.
Three things no source behind this site answers
Office hours. Nothing published gives them against the Mumbai numbers, so pitch a call against IST, which is UTC+5:30 all year — India runs no daylight saving. Current rating, temperature rise and derating of a covered bar: no datasheet in this range states any of the three, and a size code does not imply them. Price, lead time, minimum order and stock are held here in no form.
Section, kV, geometry, count
Those four in one message are the difference between a reply naming GHB 120/45 and a reply asking what the bar measures. Stated limit: this page settles how to ask and whom to ask. A size code is a dimensional answer only; whether the panel it goes into complies is decided by that panel's design standard and its type test.
